An 11-year-old boy has been attacked by a shark while swimming in waters at Heron Island off the Central Queensland coast.
The boy received a serious bite to his left calf but was airlifted to Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition, an ambulance spokesman said.
It is the second shark attack in Central Queensland in the past week.
On Saturday, a man was mauled by a three-metre-long shark while diving off Miall Island, near Great Keppel Island.
The attack left him with multiple wounds to his upper limbs, which he later underwent microsurgery to repair.
